||Kris McDowell Jackson
| James McDowell is my 4th great grandfather, said to have come from Londonderry. A family bible mentions that he was a linen weaver. He supposedly had two brothers, Andrew and Alexander. All came to settle in Delaware in the late 1700s. Conflicting info says he was born in 1775, and came over in 1780. He couldn't very well have been a linen weaver at 5, could he? He lived until after 1850, as the census lists him at 75 with his son, also James. Perhaps James' father was also James, and HE was the linen weaver... So many questions. Thanks!!
