BUCHANAN  Londonderry, prior to 1724  1997-10-15  John Buchanan
I am looking for any information concerning the family of George Buchanan, who came to Londonderry from Scotland along with his sons, John, George, William and Thomas. His grandson, John Buchanan, who was probably the son of one of his four named sons, was born in Londonderry in 1729 or 1730 and went to Maryland around 1755. He returned several times in later years to purchase cloth and took people back to America with him. He married Mary Jean Ross in 1766. He and Mary Jean had 11 children. He served in the Pennsylvania Militia and the Maryland Continental Line during the American Revolutionary War and ended up as a farmer and blacksmith in Pennsylvania. He died 4 July 1795.
